Horticulture Research

EducationHorticulture research in the department of Plants,Soils, and Biometeorology encompasses a wide range of topics in the commodity areas of fruits, landscapes, turf, and vegetables. These topics span the range from dormancy in fruit production, water use of asparagus, development of intermountain native plants as vegetable crops, gene flow in turf, water use of turf and native plants, and implementing landscape water conservation policy. Much of this research is conducted at the Greenville research farm just two miles north of campus that has state of the art irrigation facilities. In addition, horticultural research is conducted in several well equipped labs on campus. All research on aspects of water conservation in ornamental landscapes is partially supported by the Center for Water Efficient Landscaping.
