Perovskia atriplicifolia

Russian Sage

Description
Silvery-gray leaves have characteristic sage aroma. Bright blue flowers are borne atop stalks in spikes.

Range
Natively found in Central Asia and Tibet. Elevation: to 8,000ft.

Culture
Full sun with a well-drained soil. Too much water is undesirable. Hardy to zone 4.

Value
Another superior perennial where the deeply lobed, blue-green leaves set an attractive stage for the tall spikes of blue flowers. Very much Lavender-like. Common in the trade.

Propagation
To start seed indoors, cold treat seed for 10 days and sow into container. Cover to depth. Can be grown from cuttings also.
