Salvia dorii Common Name Dorii sage
Woody base with long herbaceous stems to 2' with gray green simple leaves on stems topped by deep purple, rounded flower. Found throughout the mountain west. Well drained soil. A nice tight crown that is crowned with a stunning display of almost cone-like purple flowers. A superior plant. From seed or cuttings. For starting indoors seed may be directly sown into containers and covered to depth, however this often brings very sporadic results. Using a 30 day cold treatment before sowing will up the germination rate. Germination will take place from 10 to 30 days. To start outdoors, sow seed in the desired location in the fall and cover with ¼" of soil. Look for results the following spring. |
